The ARTERY Platform (http://www.arteryproject.eu/platform) provides a unique opportunity for artists, educators and therapists to share and discuss their work in rich multimedia. Now, you have the opportunity to take part in a blended learning course based on exploiting and contributing to the platform.

You will gain access to a database of activities and methodologies developed by a highly experienced team from all around Europe, implement your developed adaptations, and share your results on the platform!

Who should participate in the ARTERY course
The course has been designed for trainers, teacher trainers and other professionals (e.g. mediators and street educators) working (or planning to work) in this field who want to extend their knowledge, gather experience and are looking for new ideas and additional training/learning materials and resources to improve social skills in their target groups.
In particular we address trainers, trainer/teacher trainers and other educational staff (careers officers, educational guides and counsellors, inspectors, headteachers, principals and managers of schools/organisations offering adult education, management staff in the institution or organisation, members of student and teachers councils in adult education etc.) who work using artistic and creative methods with people with disabilities and other vulnerable social groups such as homeless and migrants.
Specifically our In-Service course aims to develop awareness and competencies in terms of knowledge, skills and attitude in the field of social skills and competencies.

The ARTERY training

The ARTERY course consists of a combination of on-line and face-to-face learning activities based on a collection of online learning paths available on the project's website
In addition to practical exercises based on a ‘learning by doing' approach focusing on the key aspect of experiencing specific situations, the course includes information sessions, short lectures, role plays and simulations as well as discussions. The course underlines the importance of informal learning and gives space for interpersonal contacts during meals and free time and informal intercultural interaction with foreign communities.

The ARTERY methodology

The ARTERY methodology is based on the following pedagogical techniques:
- Group-building exercises
- Interactive training in small groups
- Problem solving
- Cooperative learning
- Simulations and role-playing
- Creative activities

- Use of paper material to create the world and characters of well-being.

A pre-course preparation and a follow-up phase are planned as integrating part to the face-to-face training course.

Preparation
Before coming to the ARTERY course, Participants should provide us with some brief information about their previous experience, professional background, and personal interests. After finalising registration through the ARTERY website www.arteryproject.eu, participants will receive a brief questionnaire to complete and return by e-mail to the course organisers. During the training course, Participants will then be asked to give a 20 minutes presentation on their organisation and methods of work.
Beginning preparation in one's home country will make the training more efficient. For this reason, participants are kindly requested to register to the ARTERY e-platform www.arteryproject.eu/platform and familiarise themselves with its structure and some learning paths (materials for trainers).
As soon as the Participant's registration to the course and the ARTERY e-platform is finalised, the Participant will receive the programme and all the necessary material for her/his preparation. Participants might want to bring with them to the course some materials that they use in their workshops in order to present their training methods during "Participant's Time". They are also encouraged to bring some typical object from their country to share with the other Participants (some small gift or something to eat)

Follow-up
Participants will be asked to contribute to the ARTERY e-platform designing at least one learning path with at least three learning steps. The active participation in the ARTERY platform activities will facilitate peer networking with the aim of setting up a community for exchange of good practices and for the development of new ideas in the field of social competence. In addition to written evaluation during the course, Participants will receive an invitation to an online evaluation tool, two weeks and sixth months after the course, in order to elaborate on their learning triggered by their course experience.
